The SRH franchise have had a couple of quiet seasons in IPL and would look to change its fortune in the upcoming edition. Sunrisers Hyderabad have added a couple of big match-winners to provide strength to their core squad.

“I think the reason why we do practice matches is that we like match simulation. I think it brings the best out in players. It’s a good opportunity for them to go out and really put their minds into a match situation,” Dale Steyn said in a video released by SRH.

“Practice matches are the best way to try and simulate what we are going to experience once the tournament starts. It is also a nice way for everyone to be on the field together and having fun and that is when you really start to see unity within the group,” the former South African pacer further added.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar set to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in Aiden Markram’s absence

Meanwhile, SRH will miss their skipper Aiden Markram for the first couple of matches. Markram is a part of the South African squad’s two-match ODI series against the Netherlands. Along with Markram, Marco Jansen, and Heinrich Klassen too will skip their opening game.

In the absence of Aiden Markram, Bhuvneshvar Kumar will lead the SRH franchise in the first couple of matches. The pacer was seen posing for the all-captains photo session ahead of the IPL 2023.

Bhuvneshvar Kumar has the experience of leading the orange army in the absence of their former skipper David Warner. The experienced pacer has led them in 7 games in which SRH has registered 2 wins and 5 losses.

The SRH Team management and Bhuvneshvar Kumar have got a tedious task of selecting four overseas players from the remaining five options. Glenn Phillips, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Harry Brook, Adil Rashid and Akeal Hosein are the available overseas options for the SRH franchise going into the first game.
