Joe Root finally made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and has now played 3 games for the RR franchise. However, he didn’t get to bat in his first two games as their top order specifically Yashasvi Jaiswal scored most of the runs for Rajasthan Royals.

“You could see it (India debut) tomorrow. One thing that is quite impressive with him is he is clearly very hungry and he has got great desire and belief in his ability. He has dominated spin and seam throughout this tournament and you can see him with the confidence he is playing. ” Joe Root said in an exclusive interview with PTI.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is making sure that he continues to keep looking to get better: Joe Root

“He is making sure that he continues to keep looking to get better, keep learning which he does, he has got a great temperament in that respect and he has got a brilliant work ethic. He is always asking and trying to learn from other players and from people around him,” the English batter discussed about Jaiswal’s urge to keep improving.

Joe Root also believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal has got all the elements required in his batting and doesn’t have any particular weakness. The English batter reckons that the RR opener has an amazing future ahead of him and will soon get a call for the Indian National Team.

The RR opener has been in sublime form in IPL 2023 and has scored with 575 runs in 13 matches at an average of 47.92 and an exceptional strike rate of 166.18. He is third on the highest run-getter list, behind RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and GT opener Shubman Gill.

While the Rajasthan Royals side is on the brink of elimination from a playoff spot as they have already lost 6 out of their 13 games, Jaiswal still has one more opportunity in IPL 2023 against the Punjab Kings on May 19 to impress the Indian Team selectors.
