After “suspicious balls,” Hasan Raza accuses BCCI of “manipulating DRS” to take advantage in World Cup 2023
Team India hammered South Africa on Sunday by a massive margin of 243 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It was the biggest defeat in the history of South African cricket. With this win, India has guaranteed their top place on the points table of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. This was the eighth successive win for India in the tournament.
Batting first, India posted a massive score of 326/5 in the first inning. Virat Kohli scored his 49th ODI ton and remained unbeaten on 101 runs, including ten boundaries. Shreyas Iyer also played well for his 77 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (29*) and Suryakumar Yadav (22) contributed well. Rohit Sharm gave India a flying start at the top with 40 off 24 balls.

In the second inning, Indian bowlers didn’t let any South African batter settle down and continued where they left off against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. India dismissed Sri Lanka for just 55 runs and did something similar in Kolkata against South Africa. They dismissed the Proteas for their lowest ODI total of 83 runs in just 27.1 overs. Marco Jansen was the top scorer with 14 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 5/33 and registered the second-best bowling figure by an Indian left-arm spinner.
Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami also chipped in with two wickets each. India registered the biggest win over South Africa and continued their domination. However, there were a few who couldn’t digest this win. Former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza, who earlier accused the ICC of giving the Indian bowlers a different ball when they dismissed Sri Lanka for 55 runs, made another allegation.
He said on the local Pakistani channel that the dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen off Ravindra Jadeja, where the on-field umpire gave it not out and the Indian team took the DRS, and it showed that the ball turned enough to hit the middle stumps, was not correct.
He said, “Van de Dussen was the batter, and the ball was hitting the middle stump after pitching on the leg stump. How is that possible? The impact was in line, but the ball was headed towards the leg stump. Like everyone else, I am just sharing my opinion. I am saying that such things should be checked. DRS is being manipulated, and that is clearly visible.” He also recalled Sachin Tendulkar’s close call off Saeed Ajmal during the 2011 World Cup. Hasan said that the home team takes advantage of such calls.
