IPL 2023: Unfortunately, Lucknow Super Giants‘ (LSG) left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been forced to withdraw from IPL 2023. This happened due to a shoulder injury he sustained during a practice session before their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). This is a significant setback for the LSG management, who are already without their captain KL Rahul for several games.

LSG has been plagued by injuries throughout the tournament. Mohsin Khan missed the first game and Mark Wood was sidelined after playing a few matches. Now, they will also be without Unadkat for the remainder of the tournament. During the practice session, the 31-year-old’s left foot got caught, causing him to land painfully on his left elbow. He was in visible discomfort and had an ice pack on his shoulder, which kept him out of the match against RCB.

During Lucknow Super Giants’ training session on April 30, the star pacer Jaydev Unadkat landed awkwardly on his left shoulder while bowling. Although it appears to be a minor injury, the BCCI and Indian team management are anxiously awaiting Unadkat’s scan results. The results are expected to arrive on Tuesday evening, to determine his availability for the upcoming final against Australia. Despite the setback, there is optimism that Unadkat will make a swift recovery and be fit in time for the crucial match.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Jaydev Unadkat underwent scans in Mumbai. Based on the guidance of the BCCI medical staff, he has decided to pull out of the IPL 2023. He took this decision to stay fit for the crucial World Test Championship 2023 final. The WTC Championship is scheduled to begin on June 7 in London. Unadkat had an unremarkable season for LSG. He featured in only three games and failed to take any wickets for the KL Rahul-led side.

As per reports, the Saurashtra captain underwent scans in Mumbai and consulted with the BCCI’s medical staff. It is expected that he will now go to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to begin his rehabilitation process and regain his fitness.

If Unadkat is unable to recover in time for the upcoming match, it will not only be a setback for LSG but also for the Indian team. Moreover, Jasprit Bumrah has already been ruled out due to a back injury. The Indian team is likely to opt for three specialist pacers for the final. Consequently, a replacement will be named for Unadkat if he fails to regain his fitness in time.
