In a video posted on social media, the CSK skipper and fans’ very own “Thala” can be seen hitting gigantic sixes while practicing at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Despite staying away from the game since the completion of the IPL 2022, the ex-India cricketer looked at his best as he easily smashed the bowlers out of the park. From the latest nets session, Dhoni was seen in his ballistic mood with the bat, something which has been rare as he normally plays touch-and-go cricket before taking on the bowlers in the nets. There was another video posted by Chennai Super Kings’ social media where the four-time IPL-winning captain can be seen practicing his ground shots.

Dhoni has been the most important player of the Yellow army since its inception in 2008. In his illustrious IPL career, he has had 234 IPL appearances so far, Dhoni has scored 4978 runs with an average of 39.2, leading Chennai to the title four times in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021.

Last year, Dhoni looked like a pale shadow of himself as he could only amass 232 runs from 14 matches, with the help of one half-century, coming in the opening match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The dynamic batter would love to turn back the clock and score big runs in the upcoming season in order to help his team win the coveted IPL trophy for the fifth time.

Meanwhile, the Chennai fans have been eager for years now to see MS Dhoni and Co. in action at their home ground in Chennai- M.A Chidambaram Stadium, for the first time since IPL 2019. Since the 2019 edition, CSK hasn’t played a home game due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The team’s wait will be over in less than a month’s time as they will be able to play half of their league games of the forthcoming season at their home ground.
