Deepak Chahar Drops a Massive Hint on MS Dhoni’s Retirement
Chennai Super Kings’ frontline pacer Deepak Chahar has provided a major update regarding MS Dhoni, just before the start of the much anticipated IPL 2023, saying that there are no talks of his retirement in the dressing room and he wants to see more of the CSK skipper in the coming years. It is speculated that the upcoming edition of the IPL could be the last season for Dhoni. The fans of the Yellow brigade believe that the veteran cricketer will hang up his boots this year after playing in front of the Chennai crowd.

Notably, the former India and World Cup-winning skipper has already retired from international cricket in 2020 and does not play domestic cricket at all. Since announcing his international retirement, Dhoni has only played in the IPL as far as competitive cricket is concerned. His last on-field appearance was in IPL 2022. The lack of game time has forced him to start his preparations early prior to the start of the tournament. CSK’s “Thala” is gearing up to lead the Yellow Army in the 16th edition of the cash-rich.

CSK pacer Deepak Chahar, who is fully fit and set to make his comeback in the IPL 2023 after missing out on the last season, stated that Dhoni hasn’t spoken a word about his retirement yet. One of the senior members of the CSK set-up, Chahar also wishes to see Dhoni play as many matches as he can before retiring.
“It’s a Privilege to Play Under MS Dhoni,” Says Chahar
“No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully, he will play more. We don’t know any such thing, we want him to play as much as he can. He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He’s in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year,” Deepak Chahar said to News India Sports.

Chahar has been Dhoni’s go-to bowler as the CSK captain trusts him to bowl the toughest overs in the game. The Rajasthan-born fast bowler has been CSK’s main weapon with the ball, especially in the powerplay overs. Since making his debut for four-time IPL winners, Chahar has bagged 58 wickets in as many IPL matches for the Yellow Army at an economy rate of just 7.70 runs per over. He was part of the franchise’s title-winning campaigns in 2018 and 2021.
