IND VS SA: Suryakumar Yadav Breaks Glenn Maxwell’s Magnificent T20I World Record
IND VS SA: In the South Africa series, Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav is fielding his strongest team. He hit an 18-ball half-century in the second T20I in Guwahati, wreaking havoc on the Proteas bowlers. SKY was unstoppable, scoring 61 runs in the contest off just 22 deliveries.
He beat Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell to set a new record with his hard-hitting performance. In T20Is, Maxwell made the 1000th run in his 604th delivery, while Yadav needed just 574 balls to do it. The power hitter also passed Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to become the third-fastest Indian to 1,000 runs in T20Is (by innings).

IND VS SA: “Not To Play Him Anymore”: Rohit Sharma
It took Yadav 31 innings to accomplish the milestone. He and Kohli set a record by scoring 102 runs in 42 balls. Making it India’s quickest 100-run or more stand in this format. Yadav’s knocks are a visual treat.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, praised him after their victory over South Africa and then jokingly said that he would not play him again until their opening T20 World Cup match against Pakistan on October 23 in Australia.
“Just thinking not to play him anymore; just play him on the 23rd (of October, when India opens their World Cup campaign against Pakistan). He is somebody who wants to play the game, keep going out there and keep doing well. That is what keeps him happy, and we want to keep him happy.”
Said Rohit on SKY’s form, who had hit his third half-century
IND VS SA: Team India’s Batting Performance
India posted a massive score of 237/3 in 20 overs in the second T20I thanks to the top order batsmen KL Rahul (57 off 28), Rohit (43 off 37), Kohli (49* off 28), and Yadav (61 off 22). David Miller scored an unbeaten 106 off 47, and Quinton de Kock scored 69* off 48 in the run chase. However, both batsmen fell short by 16 runs, giving India an unassailable 2-0 series lead. Rahul established the tone in Guwahati by punching Kagiso Rabada to the point boundary with the bowled first ball.
In the fourth over, off Wayne Parnell, he hit a wristy pick-up shot for six over square leg for his subsequent boundary. A terrific punch behind the point followed that. Rahul had already set up a boundary after the first four overs.
Here’s a look at the list of fastest batters to reach 1000 runs in men’s T20Is (in terms of the number of balls faced):
- Suryakumar Yadav – 574
- Glenn Maxwell – 604
- Colin Munro – 635
- Evin Lewis – 640
- Thisara Perera – 654
