3 Players Who have shown destructive form after going unsold at IPL 2024 auction
The auction for the IPL 2024 took place in December in Mumbai. All ten franchises added some big names to their squads. The IPL 2024 auction broke all previous records as Mitchell Starc (INR 24.75 crore) became the most expensive player in history. Pat Cummins bagged a big deal worth INR 20.5 crore. A total of 72 players got the deals.
However, there were some big names that couldn’t attract any buyers at the IPL 2024 auction. Steve Smith, Jason Holder, and some other big names also didn’t get any deals. Meanwhile, there are a few players who were unsold but have done pretty well at the international level. Here we will talk about three players who were unsold at the IPL 2024 auction.
Three unsold Players at IPL 2024 auction who are doing pretty well at international level
3. Phil Salt
English opening Phil Salt was part of the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023, and he did a pretty good job at the top of the order. He played 9 games and scored 218 runs at a strike rate of 163.91 with two half-centuries. But DC released him, and he went unsold. But interestingly, after going unsold, Salt smashed two consecutive hundreds against the West Indies in the last T20I series and also jumped to second in the T20I rankings. He is still doing well in SA20 2024 for the Pretoria Capitals, but unfortunately, he went unsold.
2. Josh Hazlewood
One of the biggest names to go unsold at the IPL 2024 auction was Australian quick Josh Hazlewood. The pacer was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the last two seasons and did an amazing job for them. But surprisingly, he was released ahead of the auction, and no one bid for him. As a result, he went unsold. However, after that, Hazlewood showed great form at the international level. In a three-match test series against Pakistan, he took 11 wickets at the second-best average of 20. Then, in the first test against the West Indies, he took 4/44. He is in good form and could be a good bowler for any team.
1. Finn Allen
New Zealand opener Finn Allen was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 season. But he was benched for the whole season and didn’t play any games. Later, RCB released him ahead of the auction, and he didn’t find any teams. But guess what? He has started 2024 with a bang. In the ongoing five-match T20I series against Pakistan, he is the top scorer with one hundred and one fifty. He has scored 245 runs in three innings at 81.67 with a strike rate of 207.63. RCB would surely be thinking about the blunder they made.
