3 Big Names that went unsold at the IPL 2024 auction
3. Phil Salt (England)
English star Phil Salt was part of the Delhi Capitals in 2023 and played nine games. He scored 218 runs at a strike rate of 163.91. But the franchise released him, and he was registered with a base price of INR 2 crore. But unfortunately, no one went for him. Notably, Salt is part of the ongoing WI-ENG T20I series and has scored two consecutive tons, and everyone is talking about him now.
2. Steve Smith (Australia)
Steve Smith needs no introduction to the game of cricket. He is arguably the best batter in this generation and has already achieved immense success as a batter in his career. He has played 103 IPL matches and scored 2485 runs at 34.51 with one hundred and 11 half-centuries. But shockingly, he didn’t get any team to bid for him and went unsold.
1. Jason Holder (West Indies)
Former West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder has been part of the IPL since 2013. He has always been in demand at the auction. Holder has played 46 IPL matches, taken 53 wickets at an economy rate of 8.81, and also scored 259 runs. But, surprisingly, he didn’t get any buyers this time around. He was with RR for INR 5.75 crore, and now he went unsold.
