IPL 2023: Suresh Raina quotes Robin Utthapa and Calls Yashasvi Jaiswal a Superstar

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the talk of the town since his debut in the Indian Premier League. Yashasvi has been a crucial part of the Rajasthan Royals squad since 2020. He has been a star-opening batsman for Rajasthan and has put hundreds of runs on the board while having vital partnerships with the English Batsman Jos Buttler.

In just eight matches of the TATA IPL 2023, Jaiswal has put 304 runs on the board. With still six matches left in the league stage, Yashasvi has many chances to score more runs in this season of the tournament as Rajasthan Royals have high chances of qualification in the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals have become the points table toppers after their thrilling encounter with Chennai Super Kings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played some noteworthy technical shots in the match against Chennai Super Kings on 27th April 2023. He has received wide appreciation from former cricketers and critics after the game. Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award for his 77 runs in 43 deliveries.

Suresh Raina quoted Robin Utthapa and said Robin was right when he said Yashasvi Jaiswal is a superstar of the IPL and will make India proud in the future.

While further analysing Jaiswal’s knock Suresh Raina said, “His head position is great and as Robin said when he hit a reverse sweep, it stayed so still. He plays close to the body, and what I like the most is that his head, whenever he drives the ball, is also very still. When it doesn’t move much, you can get a lot of power into your shot, your swing goes well. It’s very important when he hits his shots, especially his cover drive. He respects a good bowler and gives himself time. He knows how to build a game beyond the first six overs.”

Yashasvi has played 31 matches in the IPL and has scored 851 runs with a strike rate of 139.05, along with an average of 27.45. He has smashed 102 fours and 32 sixes. Despite scoring six half-centuries, Jaiswal has not scored a century in the IPL.
