“I Have Shown Calmness Through My Leadership”- Faf du Plessis on His Learnings from MS Dhoni

CSK skipper MS Dhoni is hailed as one of the finest captains in the history of cricket. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis was with the Chennai Super Kings for almost a decade and has learnt a few things about leadership from MS Dhoni and reckons that he has also shown calmness through his leadership.

Faf du Plessis recently revealed that he has learned a lot about captaincy from MS Dhoni. The RCB skipper learnt the art of remaining calm under pressure from Dhoni and that helped him captain South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“Something that came from MS is how calm he is and I think that’s something that I have shown through my leadership as well. I am always trying to make sure that I am very clear with my players,” Faf du Plessis stated while speaking to NDTV.

“You give your absolute best and move on. So, I think that will be the biggest one I picked from MS. He is called captain cool for a reason. There’s no greater guy to learn about being cool than MS Dhoni,” the RCB skipper discussed about MS Dhoni’s calmness.

While speaking about leadership skills, Faf du Plessis also stressed the importance of backing your own leadership style and taking some advice from others when needed. He stated that he could never captain like MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli or Graeme Smith but has to find his own way but he can certainly look at things and incorporate them from other leaders.

Faf has shown some great leadership skills in the Indian Premier League right from the word go. He was picked by the RCB franchise in the mega auction ahead of the IPL 2022 and was straightaway handed over the responsibility to lead them as Virat Kohli had stepped down as the captain of RCB.

Faf du Plessis brought consistency in a rather inconsistent RCB team as they qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2022 and defeated LSG in the eliminator of the tournament. They have a chance to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023 as well if they perform well in their last two matches.
