From Centuries to Setbacks: A Rollercoaster Year for Suryakumar Yadav in 2023

The ICC Voting Academy, alongside a comprehensive panel of global media representatives and cricket enthusiasts worldwide, bestowed the honor upon Suryakumar Yadav after a round of voting. Despite his on-field success, Suryakumar Yadav faced setbacks due to injuries. An ankle injury during the T20I series against South Africa sidelined him from both the ODI series against the Proteas and the T20I series against Afghanistan. Additionally, he underwent a groin surgery on January 17 to address a sports hernia, a condition that had deteriorated over time.

Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of concern, Surya reassured fans of his imminent return to action after the surgery. The cricketer is set to commence rehabilitation for the groin surgery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in the second week of February, aiming for a comeback during the IPL 2024 in March.
