“It gives us a big chance..”- Kane Williamson gives stern warning to India ahead of IND vs NZ World Cup 2023 Semi-final
Team India is all set to face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. This match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15 (Wednesday). Both teams played a match earlier in the group stage, which ended with a close finish. India won that game by four wickets, and it was the only win for India where they had to sweat it out.
Thus, it is expected to be an exciting contest between two teams with some big superstars on their sides. Both teams will put in everything to win this game and qualify for the finals. India will rely on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the batting, and Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav will be the main bowlers. New Zealand has Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Rachin Ravindra, and Mitchell Santner, who can change the game in any situation.
ICC World Cup 2023: “It’s going to be a tough challenge”- Kane Williamson ahead of IND vs NZ Semi-final
The overall record between these two teams favors India, but when it comes to the ICC tournaments, New Zealand has done little better. Especially in the past few years, New Zealand has beaten India in ICC knockout matches, which will be in India’s mind. That’s what New Zealand’s captain, Kane Wiliamson, said in the pre-match conference on the eve of the game in Mumbai.
Willliamson said that it will be a tough contest because India has played pretty well so far. But he also said that anything can happen on the day, and the team that plays good cricket will win. Williamson said, “Every game in this tournament is a tricky one, as we have seen throughout. Any team can beat anybody on those days. The underdog thing—from what you guys write, I don’t think it has changed too much. But we know as well, on that day, if we play our best cricket, it certainly gives us the best chance. Come finals time, anything can happen.”
New Zealand has won nine out of 13 ICC white-ball games played against India. That’s an indication of their good record against India. They eliminated India in the last World Cup 2019 beating them in the semi-final. So it will be interesting to see if India can change that this time around or if New Zealand will continue their better record against India.
