The Indian batters have been dominating in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. After losing Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the day, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli added a huge partnership of 189 runs for the second wicket, which set the stage for the other batters to go big in the final overs.

Both batters came very close to scoring a hundred but were unlucky and missed their respective hundreds. Shubman Gill got out for 92 runs off 92 balls. He hit 11 boundaries and two sixes in his innings. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 88 runs, with 11 boundaries in it. Gill was very close to getting his first World Cup hundred but got out, trying to hit a boundary on the slower ball.

Gill was the second Indian player to get out. He was looking set for a big knock but was unfortunate. As soon as he got out, the whole stadium was stunned in silence. Everyone was expecting him to score a century. Gill’s dismissal brought disappointment to the face of his rumored girlfriend, Sara Tendulkar, who was present at the stadium.

Her reaction is going viral on social media. But when Gill was going back, she also gave a standing ovation. This is the highest score for Shubman Gill in this World Cup so far. He is the highest run scorer in 2023 in all three formats. In ODIs this year, he has scored 1426 runs in 25 innings at an average and strike rate of 64.81 and 103.86.

Gill has also scored five hundred and seven half-centuries so far. India are looking for a big total of around 350 runs after a good start provided by Gill and Virat. India has not lost any games so far in this tournament, and they will look to continue their winning momentum and move to the top of the points table.
