IPL 2023: After a horrible performance in the TATA IPL 2022, the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings have bounced back well in the ongoing tournament. CSK won only four games out of 14 in 2022. But so far in the IPL 2023, they have already won five out of the eight games they have played, and their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are quite bright. MS Dhoni and his men are currently in third place with a NRR of +0.376.

However, just like the team, CSK skipper MS Dhoni has also looked better as compared to last season. Although MSD hasn’t had many chances to bat, whatever he has got, he has smashed some big sixes. So far, he has scored 61 runs at a strike rate of 196.77. In three games, he didn’t come out to bat. But every fan wants to see him bat. However, because of his batting position, Dhoni hardly gets few balls to face.

IPL 2023: “He Wants To…”- Dwayne Bravo Reveals Why MS Dhoni Doesn’t Promote Himself up in the Batting Order

Dhoni has a huge fan following, and where he plays, fans come to watch him bat. But he bats so deep that sometimes he is not able to bat. Though he can promote himself up the batting order. But former CSK star and current bowling coach Dwayne Bravo has revealed the reason why MSD wants to bat down the order. “That is the position he has to bat. Everyone is batting higher than him and he takes that responsibility and ownership upon himself to bat lower down the order because the likes of Jadeja, Rayudu, and Dube, he wants to give these guys as many opportunities as possible. He is happy to just play the finishing role.”

The CSK skipper bats at No. 7 or 8 in the batting lineup. It happened sometimes that he didn’t get a chance to bat as well. As it happened in the game against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. Batting first, RR made a huge score of 202/5. In reply, CSK only managed 170/6 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 32 runs. Dhoni was seen sitting out at the dugout, padded up, but didn’t get a chance to contribute. CSK will now play Punjab Kings on Sunday at home.
