Glenn Maxwell equals Rohit Sharma this Big Record
In the third T20I between India and Australia, Glenn Maxwell’s exceptional form took center stage, leading to a thrilling victory in Guwahati. Riding on recent successes, including a double century against Afghanistan, Maxwell delivered a stunning century in just 48 deliveries, guiding his team to success.
Batting first after losing the toss, India posted a commanding total of 222 for the loss of three wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s monstrous century played a pivotal role in propelling the team’s score beyond the 220-run mark.
Challenging Chase for Australia
Despite a quick start by Travis Head and Hardie in the chase, consistent wicket falls increased the required run rate for Australia. The team found themselves needing 13 runs per over to secure the victory.
Maxwell’s Record-equalling Century
In a remarkable display, Glenn Maxwell not only secured his fourth T20I century but also equalled Rohit Sharma’s record. Maxwell became the first batsman in T20 history to achieve three centuries while chasing, surpassing other notable names in the process.
Maxwell’s century also marked a significant milestone, as he scored the joint-fastest century by an Australian in T20s. With eight sixes and eight fours, he reached the century mark in just 47 balls, breaking the previous record held by Josh Inglis and Aaron Finch.
Looking ahead, India will face Australia in the fourth T20I in Raipur, with the goal of sealing the series before heading to Bengaluru for the fifth T20I. On the other hand, Australia aims to level the series, setting the stage for an exciting final showdown.
