RCB vs MI: Virat Kohli registers fifty 50+ scores in the IPL

Virat Kohli smashed a stellar fifty in the game against Mumbai Indians. He scored 82 runs off just 49 deliveries including 6 fours and 5 maximums. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batter made a formidable 148-run opening partnership in just 89 balls along with his skipper Faf du Plessis.

With the fifty in the RCB vs MI game, Virat Kohli has now registered a half-century of 50-plus scores. Australian batter David Warner is the only other player who has achieved this rare feat. Warner has scored 50+ scores sixty times in the cash-rich league.

Punjab Kings’ skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma too are chasing this feat. Dhawan has scored 49 fifties while Rohit has gone beyond the 50 mark on 41 occasions.

Rohit Sharma completes 200 matches as captain in T20s

The RCB vs MI game was Rohit Sharma’s 200th game as a leader of a T20 side. The Mumbai Indians’ skipper is only the second Indian captain to achieve this record after CSK skipper MS Dhoni. Former West Indies skipper Darren Sammy also features in the elite list.

MS Dhoni tops the list as he has played 307 matches as captain in the T20 format. On the other hand, Darren Sammy has led a T20 team on 208 occasions. Meanwhile, Rohit has a victory percentage of 62.31 which is better than MS Dhoni and Darren Sammy.

However, on a record-setting outing as a captain, Rohit Sharma failed to deliver with the bat. The MI skipper scored just 1 run off 10 deliveries before getting dismissed in the fifth over. Rohit Sharma couldn’t score big despite getting a lifeline as Mohammed Siraj and Dinesh Karthik collided and none of them could hold on to his catch.
