RCB vs CSK: Just like in the past few games, the 24th game of the 16th edition also produced yet another last-over thriller. It was a Southern Derby, with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings facing off at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was a run-fest contest, with 33 sixes hit in the entire game, which is the joint-most in the history of an IPL game. Batting first, CSK made a massive score of 226/6, with Devon Conway and Shivam Dube scoring half-centuries each.

Conway looked good and took on the bowlers right away. He made a 32-ball fifty and scored 83 off 45. Dube, on the other hand, looked like a beast and started hitting sixes from the get-go. He smashed a 25-ball half-century and made 52 off 27, with five sixes and two fours. The left-hander also hit the biggest six of the tournament at 111 meters.

It was Dube’s onslaught that helped CSK go past 226/6 in 20 overs. CSK hit 17 sixes in the inning. The southpaw has this six-hitting ability, which was one of the reasons that CSK bought the all-rounder for INR 4 crore in the 2022 auction. And he has done a decent job with some match-winning cameos for the four-time champion. In a discussion with India Today, Dube revealed the secret behind his power-hitting. He said,

“Since childhood, I have had this power. My dad has given me enough protein because he knows what is needed at this level. Definitely, I believe it is not easy to stop me when I get going, that’s what I believe and the team believes. The size of the ground and the wicket was good, and the freedom I got was something I enjoyed.”

It was a tough score to chase. But Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell added a big 126-run partnership for the third wicket. They looked good in the chase. RCB was at 141/3 in 12.1 overs. But after that, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals. In the end, they ended up with 218/8 in 20 overs. CSK won their third game and moved up to the third spot. They will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game on April 21 at home.
