The Bangladeshi Tigers have been dealt another blow as their all rounder and cricketing legend Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the second Test with an injury. In fact, in the second innings of the first Test, Shakib did not come out to bat nor did he bowl a single delivery for his country. And now, it has been revealed that he will not be a part of the second Test match.

The hosts have replaced Shakib with Soumya Sarkar. Sarkar has featured in 15 Test matches for Bangladesh and scored 818 runs at an average of 29.21. He has scored a solitary century in his Test career so far. He last played a Test match for Bangladesh in September 2019. In fact, Sarkar had a decent 2019 with the bat for his country. In the 6 innings that he played in the year, Sarkar scored 230 runs at an average of 38.33. He also scored a scintillating 149 against New Zealand at Eden Park in 2019. However, the loss of Shakib is a massive one. Shakib is the only Bangladesh cricketer to have taken more than 200(210) wickets in Test cricket and has also scored close to 4000(3930) runs for his country with the bat. With the series on the line, Shakib’s loss at such a crucial juncture will be a massive blow for Bangladesh.
