IPL 2023: Cameron Green made headlines when he came to India for a three-match T20I series. He got the chance to open the batting in place of David Warner and made a huge impact. He ended as the highest scorer with the fastest T20I half-century for Australia against India off 19 balls. As a result, he was a hot pick in the IPL 2023 auction. It was the five-time champion Mumbai Indians who acquired him at a whopping price of INR 17.5 crore.

MI broke all records for him, making him their costliest buy ever and the second-most expensive IPL player in history. However, the Australian all-rounder has justified his price tag to some extent. He has done a tremendous job with the bat and bowled some useful overs in the middle. Green has also smashed the second-fastest century for MI this season.

They will face the defending champion Gujarat Titans in that game, and Green will be a crucial player for them. Ahead of that game, he spoke about his journey with the game and said that skipper Rohit Sharma told him that Mumbai starts the season slowly. In the discussion on Star Sports, he said,
“I think MI never won the first game of IPL. We obviously had a slow kind of start but you want to obviously start peaking at this time of the year. GT has been best side all tournament, may be a bit of slip up against CSK and they have everything covered — opening batters are flying and spin twins (Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed) have been hard to get away. They are a tough team but we will go there with all optimism.”
Furthermore, the all-rounder also lauded his MI teammate Suryakumar Yadav and said it is easy to bat with him. He said that you just need to give him the strike and enjoy from the other end.
