Furthermore, Rahul didn’t come out to bat in the second inning at his usual position. He came to bat at No. 11 in the 19th over and looked in discomfort. He was unable to run and was also denied a few singles. Some reports confirmed that he might miss the game against the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. However, on Thursday, it was learned that the LSG skipper, along with veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat, had been ruled out of the ongoing competition.

The report of PTI has stated that Rahul will not take further part in the 16th edition. Notably, Rahul and Unadkat are part of the Indian test squad for the upcoming final of the World Test Championship against Australia, which will take place in the second week of June. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take the matter into their own hands and look to get him ready for the WTC final. A senior BCCI source confirmed PTI,

“KL is currently with the team in Lucknow but he is leaving the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday. His scans will be done in Mumbai at the BCCI designated medical facility. His case as well as Jaydev’s case will be handled by BCCI. Since he is an important member of Test team, it would only be prudent that he doesn’t take any further part in IPL.”

The source also confirmed that there have not been any scans done. He also stated that when someone gets injured, it takes 24 to 48 hours for swelling to occur in the head. Thus, the scans can be done only after that. The report further suggests that Undakat will also not take part in the remainder of the tournament.

It will be a big loss for the franchise and team because Rahul was their key player. They also need to find an ideal player for the captaincy. Krunal Pandya led LSG against RCB on Monday in the absence of Rahul. LSG is currently sitting in third place with 10 points and a NRR of +0.639. LSG will host the Chennai Super Kings in an afternoon game on Thursday. They lost the last game against CSK by 12 runs earlier this season.
