Jonty Rhodes Speaks About KL Rahul and His Captaincy
The Lucknow SuperGiants captain KL Rahul finally found some runs under his belt but those weren’t enough for him to help his team win. The LSG vs PBKS game at Lucknow began with the home team batting first. KL Rahul made his first fifty of IPL 2023 and LSG reached an above-average score of 159. However, the all-round performance by Sikandar Raza helped Punjab Kings chase the target within 20 overs.
When asked about the LSG captain’s performance against PBKS, Jonty Rhodes said that the team was confident about KL Rahul because of how well he had been practicing. The Lucknow SuperGiants coach, however, did not accept that the captaincy load might be affecting the gameplay of KL Rahul. Despite finally getting some runs, the skippers’ strike rate has been the talk of the town.
He’s (KL Rahul) led from the front and I think it’s great: Jonty Rhodes
The captain is someone who likes to lead from the front. He has always been a successful, dominating batter in all the IPLs. Captaincy isn’t something that’s ever plagued him. Many great batters when given captaincy don’t quite handle it. He’s led from the front and I think it’s great to see that. When the captain’s scoring runs, the way that he plays he lays a really good platform for others to play around them. We always knew that he was just one knock away. He’s been batting in the nets superbly,” Jonty Rhodes said.
Speaking about the captaincy of KL Rahul, the player has been doing well so far. LSG is standing at the second position in the points table after they’ve lost 2 out of 5 games. However, KL Rahul will have to worry about Deepak Hooda, after showcasing some good performances last year, he is yet to do much this season. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran were unbelievable in the LSG vs RCB game when the two helped chase down the target of 210+. Now with KL Rahul returning back in form, Lucknow SuperGiants will have a great chance to finish in the top 4 just like last year. They will next play Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 19.
