The Rajasthan Royals are ramping up their preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as team captain and India’s keeper-batter, Sanju Samson, has landed in Jaipur. The franchise welcomed their skipper with open arms, expressing their enthusiasm for what promises to be an electrifying season.

Sanju Samson, who has been at the helm of the team since 2021, is slated to lead the Rajasthan Royals once again in the upcoming edition of the IPL. This decision comes despite the team’s middling performance in the 2023 season, where they finished fifth in the standings with an equal number of wins and losses (seven each) from 14 league matches.

Last season, Samson made significant contributions to the team’s batting lineup, scoring 362 runs across 14 matches at an average of 30.16. Demonstrating his hard-hitting capabilities, he maintained a robust strike rate of 153.58 and notched up three half-centuries. His aggressive batting style at the top of the order proved vital in many of the team’s performances.

Samson’s journey with Rajasthan Royals marked a new chapter in 2021 when he was handed the captaincy, taking over from the Australian cricketer Steve Smith, who was then released by the franchise. Under his leadership, the team has seen growth and cohesion, with Samson’s personal performance often setting the tone for the squad.

The team’s first encounter in the IPL 2024 will be a home game against Lucknow Super Giants. The match is scheduled for March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, which has traditionally been a fortress for the Royals.

The Rajasthan Royals’ management and fans have high expectations for the upcoming season, with many hoping that Samson’s leadership and on-field performance will steer the team to new heights. As the competition draws nearer, all eyes are on Sanju Samson and his squad to see if they can surpass their previous efforts and clinch the coveted IPL trophy.
