DC vs LSG: “Delhi Capitals’ Batting Looked Weak”- Aakash Chopra
Lucknow Super Giants defeated Delhi Capitals by 50 runs as most of the Delhi batters failed to score big against the penetrating bowling lineup of LSG. Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra pointed out that Delhi Capitals’ batting looked weak despite having four overseas batters in their lineup in the DC vs LSG match.

Skipper David Warner was the highest run-getter for the Delhi Capitals but he scored at a sluggish pace. Apart from Warner, only Rilee Rossouw looked in some sort of rhythm as he scored 30 runs off 20 deliveries before getting dismissed by leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

“The batting looked weak despite David Warner scoring runs. You played four overseas batters. The day Anrich Nortje comes, you will have to make one of them sit out and get Manish Pandey in,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Delhi Capitals can send Axar Patel to bat slightly up the order: Aakash Chopra
Team India’s spin all-rounder Axar Patel has been in sublime form with the bat in the past few months. He scored crucial runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and has done the same for the Men in Blue in both T20I and ODI format for quite some time now.

“Till the time the top three score runs, you will stay in the game, but as soon as you go below that, you will find that the depth is slightly less. Let’s be honest, you can send Axar Patel to bat slightly up the order, he bats well,” Aakash Chopra suggested.
Delhi Capitals had four overseas batters in the top 6 in the DC vs LSG match. The batting line with the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rilee Rossouw and Rovman Powell looked pretty strong on the paper but couldn’t perform well in Delhi Capitals’ first game in IPL 2023.
Their key pacer Anrich Nortje will be available for selection after the first couple of games. The DC franchise will have to keep one of these four overseas batters out of the playing XI in order to get Nortje in the squad. They have the option to play either Manish Pandey as a genuine batter or Lalit Yadav if they prefer an all-rounder.
