CSK vs RR: The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with the inaugural season winner Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday. The 17th game of the season will see these two teams square off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, at 7:30 p.m. With the return of the IPL with home and away venues, CSK will play their second game at home. Fans saw some glimpses of their captain, MS Dhoni, in the last match CSK played against the Lucknow Super Giants at home.

Notably, with this game, MSD will write history and achieve a big milestone in the IPL’s history. Dhoni has been part of CSK since the very first season in 2008. He made his IPL debut against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Since then, he has been leading the franchise and has led them to four IPL titles. Meanwhile, during the two-year suspension of CSK, he was part of the Rising Pune Supergiants.

The game against RR on Wednesday will be the 200th appearance of the CSK skipper as the captain of the team. With this, he will become the only captain to lead an IPL team a record 200 times. Overall, he has captained 213 games for CSK and RPSG. Notably, MSD has also played the most games in the tournament. He has played 237 games and scored 5004 runs at an average of 39.09 and a strike rate of 135.53, with a best of 84 not out.

He has also scored 24 half-centuries in his IPL career. In CSK’s second game against LSG, he completed 5000 runs and became the 7th player to do so. He joined the elite list of batters like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and AB de Villiers. On the other hand, MSD needs 57 runs or more to complete 1500 runs at the Chepauk Stadium in T20s.

CSK started the tournament with a loss against the defending champion in their first game. But then, they won their second game against LSG and MI. As a result, the Yellow team is currently sitting in fifth place on the points table with an NRR of +0.356. Chennai will play their next three games at home.
