DC vs GT: Wriddhiman Saha stunned as David Warner survives even after ball clips his stumps

Star pacer Mohammed Shami started off with a wide delivery as the ball was moving quite a bit in the DC vs GT game. Shami then set his radar again and bowled a peach of a delivery to DC skipper David Warner.

Shami bowled a good-length delivery around the middle stump channel which nipped away sharply. David Warner was committed for a front-foot defence but got beaten by the seam movement. There was a big noise as the ball went past the edge.

Gujarat Titans’ fielders broke into a loud appeal but the on-field umpire showed no interest whatsoever. Skipper Hardik Pandya had a discussion with Mohammed Shami and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and he decided not to go for the DRS.

The replay of the delivery on the giant screen made it clear that the ball had made no contact with Warner’s bat. However, it had hit the off stump but the zing bails remained unmoved as David Warner survived. Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha looked in utter disbelief after watching the replays.

While Mohammed Shami didn’t get the wicket on his first delivery, he made sure to rattle the Delhi Capitals’ batting lineup in his next two overs. Shami first dismissed opener Prithvi Shaw and then got rid of dangerous Mitchell Marsh. He eventually finished with the figures of 3 for 41 in his four-over spell as Delhi Capitals could only score 162 runs after the top order collapse.
