GT registered a comprehensive win over DC by six wickets and 11 balls to spare. Chasing the target, GT didn’t have a great start, losing both openers early. Wriddhiman Saha (14) and Shubman Gill (14) got dismissed along with skipper Hardik Pandya (5) within the powerplay. But then two back-to-back 50-run partnerships helped GT register a clinical chase. And the man for the chase was youngster Sai Sudharsan, who smashed an unbeaten half-century to help GT win.

Sudharsan added 53 runs for the fourth wicket with Vijay Shankar. Shankar played a decent inning of 29 off 23, with three fours. Then, GT had an unbeaten 56-run stand for the fifth wicket between David Miller and Sudharsan. Miller scored a quick 16-ball 31, while Sudharsan remained unbeaten on 62 off 48, with four boundaries and two sixes.

The 21-year-old played a mature inning under pressure. As a result, a number of experts praised him, including the GT skipper. After the game, Hardik also said that the 21-year-old might represent India in the coming two years. He said,

“He (Sai Sudharsan) has been batting terrifically. The amount of batting he’s done in the last 15 days, all the result you see is all his hard work. Going forward, if I’m not wrong, in two years, he’ll do something great for franchise cricket and eventually for India cricket as well.”

Earlier in the game, Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. DC had yet another disappointing start, losing Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell Marsh (4) within the first five overs. DC skipper David Warner (37 off 32) and vice captain Axar Patel (35 off 22) looked good for a while. DC only managed a below-par score of 162/8 in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan was named “Man of the Match” for his performance.
