Yashasvi Jaiswal has played some brilliant knocks under pressure and has dominated the best bowling lineups in the tournament. Cricket fans and former cricketers have called for Jaiswal’s inclusion in the Indian limited-overs squads and Sunil Gavaskar also believes the same about the RR batter.

You’d want an opener to play 15 overs: Sunil Gavaskar

“If a batter scores 40-50 runs in T20 in 20-25 balls, he has done well for the team. But if he’s a opener, you’d want him to play 15 overs. If he scores century by the time, your team total would easily cross 190-200 mark. He’s a technical batter as well,” Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports about Jaiswal’s batting ability.

Sunil Gavaskar reckons that the RR opener has the confidence and can perform similarly for Team India as well, as he is in the right mindset currently. Jaiswal has impressed the cricket fraternity with his excellent shot-making ability and consistency at the top.

“I think he’s ready and should be given a chance. When a player is in form, and then he gets the chance, his confidence is also sky-rocketed. Especially in international debut, there’s always. If your form isn’t good at the time, your doubt increases. So, it’s important to be in form at that time,” the veteran batter further discussed about Yashasvi’s form.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 575 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2023 at a stunning strike rate of 166.18. The RR opener is currently the third highest run-scorer in the season, only behind RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and GT opener Shubman Gill.

The Rajasthan Royals’ opening batter smashed his maiden IPL hundred in the game against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium as he scored 124 runs off just 62 deliveries. He also scored an unbeaten 98 in the game against KKR off just 47 deliveries and won the game single-handedly for his side.
