ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: There were three teams that were fighting for a place in the semi-finals. New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan had 8 points each. But on Thursday, New Zealand registered a big win over Sri Lanka in their last league game and almost made it to the semi-final. New Zealand’s win has totally shattered the chances of both Pakistan and Afghanistan from here on.

Especially Pakistan, which played two brilliant games against Bangladesh and New Zealand, are on the verge of getting out of the tournament. They will play their last game on Saturday against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Mathematically, there is still a chance that looks impossible, as Pakistan need to beat England by a margin of 287 or more to improve their NRR as compared to New Zealand.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Wasim Akram shares a hilarious idea for Pakistan to beat England by a big margin

It is certain that New Zealand will be the fourth team to reach the semi-finals; hence, there are some hilarious memes going viral on social media platforms. However, Pakistani legend Wasim Akrma comes up with a rather bizarre idea for the Pakistan cricket team to beat England by a big margin to qualify. In a discussion on A Sports, the anchor revealed Akram’s funny idea, which has now become a topic of discussion among the fans.

Akram was quoted saying that Pakistan should bat first and score at least 300 runs on the board. And then in the second innings, they should go and lock the England cricket team in a room for 20 minutes so that the whole team will get ‘timed out” (referring to Angelo Mathews’ dismissal). That is the way that Pakistan can beat England by a big margin.

Pakistan are out of the tournament now, and it will only be a miracle if they qualify for the semi-final. But it looks impossible now. However, they will look to win their final game against England and end the tournament on high. However, Misbah-ul-Haq, who was the other panelist, went on to stop ahead. He said, Why not lock England in the first inning when they bat and chase down the target on the very first ball?
