Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul was effusive in his praise for young speedster Mayank Yadav, following a spectacular bowling display against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Making a mark as a promising talent, Yadav’s prowess has been the talk of the tournament, especially after his recent performance where he consistently delivered thunderbolts, one of which clocked a staggering 156.7 kph.

In the high-octane clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Yadav emerged as a match-winner for LSG, claiming the vital scalps of RCB’s key batsmen, Rajat Patidar, the aggressive Glenn Maxwell, and the talented all-rounder Cameron Green. His three-wicket haul not only helped contain the formidable batting lineup of RCB but also played a significant role in LSG’s 28-run victory.

KL Rahul, impressed by the young bowler’s talent, reminisced about one of Yadav’s deliveries that caught him off guard. He appreciated the youngster’s impact, especially considering that Yadav hadn’t been able to showcase his talents in previous seasons due to injuries.

Yeah one ball hit me really hard but so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he’s been bowling in the last couple of games. He’s quietly patiently waited for two seasons in the dugout, and missed out last year because of injury, unfortunately. But he’s been in Bombay with the physios working really hard. He understands that bowling 155 is not easy and in a young age, he’s had a few injuries. He’s really professional in looking after his body, it’s really good to see and has a great temperament. Enjoying seeing bowl from probably 20 yards behind the stumps, that’s where I’d like to be when he’s bowling.

Alongside Mayank Yadav’s exceptional bowling, LSG’s batting unit, led by Quinton de Kock’s top-order brilliance and Nicholas Pooran’s middle-order exploits, contributed significantly to the team’s winning cause. The victory has given LSG a boost in confidence, with two wins out of their first three games, positioning them as a strong contender in the league stages of the tournament.

Looking ahead, LSG will carry this winning momentum to their next encounter, where they are set to face the formidable 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Fans and management alike will have high expectations from Mayank Yadav, whose recent form has underscored the immense potential he possesses. His emergence as a force to reckon with has added an exciting dimension to LSG’s bowling attack, making them a team to watch out for in IPL 2024.
