Virat Kohli Embraces Fatherhood Again, Calls It a “Life-Changing Moment” – WATCH
In what can be described as a tender and heartwarming moment off the field, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s star batsman Virat Kohli has shared his joy upon welcoming his second child into the world. Kohli, who along with his wife, the renowned actress Anushka Sharma, ushered in their baby boy Akaay on February 15th, 2024 in London, opened up about how this event has profoundly altered his life.
“Change is constant, change is good. It shapes our journey as it should!”

The couple, already parents to their daughter Vamika, has now extended their family, and Kohli reminisced about the entire experience as something transformational. Despite his professional commitments with the Indian cricket team during the India vs England Test series, he took a personal hiatus to be with his family during Akaay’s birth. His paternity break was a testament to his commitment as a family man.
Returning to India prior to the IPL 2024, Virat showed his ever-known dedication to the game as he joined the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their practice during the ‘Unbox’ event in Bengaluru. Fans were eager to see the ace cricketer back on the pitch with his energy and prowess.
However, the joy of fatherhood seems to be coupled with the pressure of performance for Kohli. In the tournament opener of IPL 2024 against the formidable Chennai Super Kings, the RCB opener could only contribute 21 runs off 20 balls. Kohli, a cricketing maestro known for his aggressive and match-winning innings, surely aims to build on this start in the upcoming fixtures.
In the same vein, the Royal Challengers’ camp, which houses other star players such as Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, the all-rounder Cameron Green, and the explosive Glenn Maxwell, have shared their assorted experiences and preparation tales since the last season. Each player brings a unique set of skills, offering an insight into the team’s diversity and strategy ahead of their forthcoming matches.
Despite the high spirits in the camp and the new beginnings for Kohli, RCB faced a setback in their first encounter, succumbing to a defeat against Chennai Super Kings. However, the Bengaluru franchise has the opportunity to bounce back when they face Punjab Kings next on March 25, 2024, at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The fans, while supportive of Kohli’s new chapter as a father, are hopeful to see RCB, led by their talisman, return to winning ways in what promises to be an electrifying IPL season ahead.
