IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja Dedicates Victory to MS Dhoni

The rain affected the IPL finals that nearly lasted 3 days, finally to an end with a dramatic last-ball finish. Ravindra Jadeja who is known as one of the best all-rounders in the world showcased his class in a high-pressure game. A 2 hours halt after the mid-innings break saw a revised target of 171 in 15 overs. In the last over of the game, with 10 runs needed from the last 2 balls, Ravindra Jadeja hit Mohit Sharma for a six and a four, finishing off in style.

It was an unavailable victory for Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni became the second captain in the history of IPL having 5 trophies. The current edition of IPL has been bittersweet for Ravindra Jadeja. Especially with fans showing their displeasure, every time he walked out to bat before Dhoni. Nonetheless, speaking after the game, Ravindra Jadeja dedicated the victory to MS Dhoni. The player also thanked fans for coming out and supporting the team in spite of heavy rains.

“I’d like to dedicate this win to MS Dhoni,” says Ravindra Jadeja

“I’m from Gujarat, and it’s a special feeling. This crowd has been amazing. They were waiting for rain to stop till late night, I’d like to say a big congratulations to the CSK fans who came to support us. I’d like to dedicate this win to a special member of the CSK side, MS Dhoni,” Ravindra Jadeja said. The veteran all-rounder then discussed what was going on in his mind before hitting those final boundaries.

“I was just thinking I need to swing hard, as much as I can. Where the ball will go, I was not thinking about that, just looking to swing hard. I was backing myself and looking to hit straight because I know Mohit can bowl those slower balls,” Ravindra Jadeja added. Batting first, Gujarat Titans made 214 runs which was the highest-ever IPL total. Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Wriddhiman Saha were the stars of the game. Answering the question about the retirement MS Dhoni said he will take a final call later. Meanwhile, other players including the likes of Shubman Gill, Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, and others will leave for England soon to join the rest of the squad for the World Test Championship finals.
