With just 10 days to go before the WTC Finals, a lot of tension has been built around it. India will be missing the services of some of their big players. This will put additional pressure on the likes of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and others. Former Australian player Michael Hussey has backed captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to score well in the WTC Finals.

As this will be India’s second consecutive WTC Finals, high expectations will be from them. Moreover, with local conditions in England being ideal for fast bowling, Australia will have an added advantage. India has picked up Ajinkya Rahane as a replacement for injured Shreyas Iyer in the middle order. But the captain will have something to worry about as Ajinkya Rahane will be playing international cricket after a long gap.

“I think the fast bowlers are going to be important,” says Hussey on WTC Finals

WTC Finals: Michael Hussey Backs Virat Kohli To Do Well

In an interview on the ICC website, Michael Hussey said, “It’s hard to see past Virat Kohli. He (Kohli) is obviously coming back into some great form again in all forms of the game really. So both he and Rohit Sharma with the bat are going to be important for India.” After analyzing what could be ideal for India in the WTC Finals, Michael Hussey reflected on Australia’s recent performance in the Border-Gavaskar trophy. He acknowledged that with conditions extremely different in England, Australian fast bowlers could do well in the WTC Finals.

“It is going to be played in England, so English conditions will be different to the recent series in India, so I think the fast bowlers are going to be important. Pat Cummins (is a key for Australia) and Josh Hazlewood might be fit again which would be nice for Australia. But India have got so many great bowlers as well,” Michael Hussey said. The former Australian player concluded his chat by mentioning that Australia will have to be at their absolute best to beat India in the WTC Finals. He then expressed the desire to watch a good game between the two sides. The WTC Finals will be played at the Oval on June 7.
