“Virat’s bat will make big noise in IPL 2024”- Harbhajan Singh backs Virat Kohli for T20 World Cup spot
The next big ICC tournament will be held in June. It is the T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. A total of 20 teams will take part in the competition, which has never happened before. Team India, which won the inaugural season in 2007, will once again try to end the ICC title drought that they have had for more than a decade now.
Hence, they will do everything to put their best foot forward in the coming season. As a result, some media reports confirmed that the BCCI is planning to exclude Virat Kohli from T20 World Cup plans, citing the playing conditions in the West Indies and the USA. Notably, the pitches that will be used during the tournament will be slow, and reports confirm that they won’t suit the batting style of Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli’s bat will make the noise”- Harbhajan Singh ahead of the IPL 2024
Meanwhile, a number of former cricketers have talked about this news. The former Indian off-spinner even said that Virat has an unfinished business of winning the World Cup, and he would be part of the squad. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Bhajji said that Virat would certainly go big in the coming IPL 2024 and that his bat would create a lot of noise. The former spinner also highlighted that when India won the 2011 World Cup, Virat was part of the team, but he was very young and now he has become one of the greats of the game.
Harbhajan Singh said, “The IPL is coming, and then there is the World Cup. Virat Kohli’s bat will make the same noise as before, probably louder. Of course, Virat has [unfinished business]. That World Cup trophy.” Notably, Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He scored 296 runs in six innings at 98.66 with four half-centuries.
Overall, he is the leading scorer in T20 World Cup history and the only player to win two Man of the Tournament awards. At the age of 35, this could be the last time that he plays in the T20 World Cup. His ability to win matches is second to none, which is why India need him on the biggest stage.
