Rajat Patidar or Sarfaraz Khan? Indian Batting Coach Hints at “Tough” decision ahead of 2nd Test
The first test between India and England saw many ups and downs, and eventually it ended in England’s favour. The Indian team faced a humiliating defeat and lost the first game after taking a lead of 100+ runs. With the win, England have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The second game will take place at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, starting on February 2.
However, India suffered a massive blow when Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were ruled out of the second test after suffering injuries. Adding to that, the batting form of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer is another question mark. However, India have added Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Saurabh Kumar to the squad. Rajat Patidar is another one who is waiting on the bench. But who will make the cut? It is a big question mark.
Sarfaraz Khan or Rajat Patidar”- Indian Batting Coach gives a massive hint ahead of 2nd Test
It will be interesting to see who will be handed the debut cap in the second test. One of Patidar or Sarfaraz is expected to make his debut on Friday. However, Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour gives a massive hint on the selection. In the pre-match press conference ahead of the second test, Rathour said the selection would totally depend on the day and the pitch.
He said, “It will be a tough choice. What value they bring to the team, of course, is that they are super players. We have seen how well they have done in domestic cricket in the last few years. So on these kinds of wickets, I think they can really add a lot of value to the team.”
After a lot of hard work, Sarfaraz got his maiden call for the Indian team. On the other hand, Patidar joined the squad as Virat Kohli’s replacement but didn’t get to play the first game. Both of these batters scored a hundred each against the England Lions in the ongoing unofficial test series. The batting coach said that the decision to hand the debut cap will depend on Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.
