3 Players who should be dropped for second test after India suffered a humiliating defeat in Hyderabad
It has been an embarrassing defeat for Team India in the first test against England at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. After taking a massive lead of 190 runs in the first innings, India let the visitors bat long in the second innings. That resulted in a 28-run defeat.
A number of things went wrong in the second innings for India, both with the bat and the ball. Hence, England have taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, and their confidence will be sky high in the second test. But what do India need to do to win the second test? Some changes in the team are required, about which we will talk here.
Three Players who might be dropped from second test after 28-run defeat in Hyderabad for India
3. Mohammed Siraj
England went in with one pacer for the first team, and many questioned their approach. However, that proved to be right in the end. The pitch in the second test is likely to be similar, and India might not need Mohammed Siraj. He bowled only 11 overs in the game and can’t bat. Overall, he was just playing to complete 11 players and didn’t have much contribution. Hence, India should drop him and add Kuldeep Yadav instead.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer, who is known as a brilliant batter against spin, got out to two bad shots in two innings. He made 35 and 13 in the match, where he should’ve taken more responsibility to take the team home. Rajat Patidar is waiting on the bench, and he is in good form. So India have an option to replace Iyer because he didn’t even have a great South Africa tour in the test series as well.
1. Shubman Gill
A batting average of below 30 after playing 21 tests and still getting a chance is certainly one thing that has raised the eyebrows of many. Shubman Gill, who is an excellent ODI batter, has been struggling in the longest format. He has crossed 50 runs six times out of the 39 innings he has played and has been failing consistently. Hence, it is time to drop him from the test squad, let him be around the white-ball setup, and give some other players chances in tests.
