Harbhajan Singh Warns BCCI: England Could Replicate Australia’s World Cup Final Victory Over India
The Indian cricket team is going through some heart-breaking scenarios as they slumped to a 28-run loss captained by Rohit Sharma after having begun the game with a commanding 190-run lead in first innings. Just complicating things, their vital players Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja are out of the key matches.
It was to rectify this situation that the team management and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to bring Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar into the squad for the forthcoming match. While many fans and experts are happy with the inclusion of Sarfaraz due to his good domestic performance, legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has aired concerns of an inexperienced batting line-up for the team.
Harbhajan brought out that there is no experience in the batting order, and after Rohit Sharma, R. Ashwin is the second-highest run scorer. Indirectly naming players and subtly referring to the need for a more seasoned approach, he warned against going for a turning-track strategy, which boomeranged previously in the ICC 2023 World Cup final.
Harbhajan’s Concerns: Batting Lineup and Pitch Strategy
Highlighting the career runs, Harbhajan pointed out that Ashwin’s 3222 are more compared to KL Rahul’s 2863 from 86 innings, with Rohit Sharma leading the chart with 3801 from 55 Test games. He raised concerns, as playing on a good track would better expose the potential of this young batting line-up.
Harbhajan also commented about Sarfaraz Khan and termed it a huge chance for the youngster to prove himself. While encouraging Sarfaraz to make the most of this opportunity, Harbhajan cautioned that a half-hearted display might leave the door open for Virat Kohli’s comeback, thereby underscoring how closely fought the cricket series had turned out to be.
